Off Premise Policies


Pricing & Minimums

Gourmet Express Catering & Event Planning Group reserves the right to require a minimum number of guests per menu or per event. Guest minimum amounts, menu prices, menu items, and any other services or products offered by Gourmet Express are subject to change at any time, without notice, based on resources and availability. There may be a time lag between changes to prices, minimum guest requirements, and menu items or services, and when those changes appear on the website. Specific guest minimums, menu prices, menu items, and service offerings will be confirmed by your Gourmet Express event coordinator upon discussion of your event.

To guarantee your private or Corporate function, 25% of the anticipated total cost is required at time of (unless other arrangements have been made in advance). Remaining Balance is to be paid one week before your event, (unless other arrangements have been made in advance & in writing). A signature is required on each contract.

Form of Payments accepted: Cash, Check, Visa, Master Card, or Discover. Additional charges may be incurred when an event time exceeds the scheduled time, additional meal service personnel, or any other goods /services. Due to increasing costs & changing compliance regulations, a new policy for the use of credit cards to pay all or part of the total cost of your event order will be implemented on May 12 2017. A 3% surcharge fee will be assessed on all Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card credit card transactions. This fee is not greater than our cost of acceptance. No transaction fee will be assessed on payments made by cash or check.

Client can perform any alterations/revisions to said contract up and until 15 days prior to the event. Final head count for private and corporate events are due and must be conveyed to our office 15 days prior to the event. This number is considered your minimum guarantee attendance and cannot be lowered after that date. We will accept any increase in guarantee number until 2 days prior to event.

Price Guarantees

Prices are firm for catering events held within one year of the date of contract, unless list price/market price of items increases by greater than 15% and any State and Government tax increases.

All prices are subject to 6% state sales tax (unless you provide proof that you represent a tax-exempt organization) All catering and planning services are subject to an 20% operational fee. This fee is assessed to help cover the cost of preparation staff, coordination time, equipment, supplies, insurance, and other overhead expenses incurred from all events.


In the event of a cancellation of your scheduled event before thirty days of your event date, you will receive a 50% refund of your deposit. After thirty days from your event date, your entire deposit is non-refundable. In the event of the cancellation occurring within seven days of your booked event, you will be liable for the entire event balance.

Food Service

At the time of the event, an actual count will be made of those attending and Gourmet Express will require payment for the amount beyond guaranteed attendance. Gourmet Express can accommodate most dietary restrictions upon requests. Subject to availability. At the discretion of Gourmet Express, leftover cooked food may remain with client when on site refrigeration is accessible to our staff, after which the client assumes all liability resulting in failure to properly maintain safe food temps and storage of food.

Delivery Service

Many parties can be dropped off with brief instructions on how to refill a chafing dish or pull a salad out of a cooler. Please discuss Drop Off Catering and fees with your Gourmet Express event coordinator.

TAM/TIPS Service Staff

By contracting Gourmet Express Service Staff, you understand and are verifying the following.

Wait Staff:

The need for wait staff will vary with each individual event. Please discuss the details of your event with your event coordinator.
Gratuities are accepted and appreciated, and is solely at the decision of the host or hostess. If you decide to tip your staff or coordinator, whenever possible, please pay them directly.


1. I understand that Gourmet Express does not promote under aged drinking under any circumstance and will not serve to guests under the age of 21.

2. I understand the bartending staff provided/secured by Gourmet Express follow the guidelines required by TAM/TIPS certification and have the right to refuse alcohol to any guest that appears intoxicated. The host will be discreetly notified of such action and such action will be recorded by Gourmet Express.

3. I agree that Gourmet Express is not responsible for the conduct of guests at the event and is not liable for their actions before, during, or after the time frame specified on signed contract.

4. There will be a minimum $150.00 bartender fee for any event that includes alcohol.


Gourmet Express reserves the right to inspect and control all functions. Waiver of Liability; the client agrees to irrevocably and unconditionally release Gourmet Express from liability, claims, actions and causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, illness, death, or injury sustained by any participant in connections with any food, services, personnel, beverages, rental items not directly provided by Gourmet Express.

Miscellaneous Information

  • Tax Exempt Groups must supply their tax-exempt certificate upon booking event.

  • Venue setup including rental equipment, centerpieces, etc. is considered a service enhancement that is available. Additional fees may apply. Rates vary depending upon extensiveness of setup and can be discussed with your Gourmet Express event coordinator.

  • Gourmet Express works directly with preferred vendors for rental equipment, DJ services, floral needs, and more. Please visit for a comprehensive list.

  • Plated & Family Style services are available for an additional fee. Please discuss with your Gourmet Express event coordinator.

  • Delivery/Fuel Fee is applicable on all events that are greater than 25 miles round trip from our headquarters in South Lyon. Fees are $25 and up depending upon venue proximity to our headquarters.

  • Additional labor fee applicable for any additional staff or extended service hours requested by client or for Butler Passed Appetizer & Drink Service.

  • If the weather exceeds 80 degrees, the staff attire for your event will be at the discretion of management.

  • Gourmet Express offers taste testing appointments for weddings and other joyous occasions for a fee of $50.  We offer two free tastings per year, in the Spring and the Fall.  Please discuss with your event coordinator. Not all menu items are subject to tastings. Please discuss these options with your Gourmet Express event coordinator.
